200g margarine

8 tbsp golden syrup

150g granulated sugar

400g rolled oats

½ level tsp salt

Quantity: 12-20 depending on size

Oven Temperature: 170c

Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Setting Time: N/A


  1. Grease and line the bottom of a shallow, rectangular tin
  2. Melt the margarine into the golden syrup in a saucepan slowly over a low heat
  3. Take the pan off the heat and add the oats, sugar and salt to the pan and stir till all combined
  4. Spread mixture into the tin ensuring it goes into the corners and is pressed level
  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes until it is golden brown
  6. Remove from the oven and after 5 minutes cut the flapjack in the tin. Leave to cool before removing from the tin and placing on a cool tray
